The statement from the Prime Minister last night was one of the most significant in the history of this country during peace time. To tackle how coronavirus multiplies the government has restricted leaving home to the following reasons.
- Shopping for basic necessities, as infrequently as possible
- One form of exercise per day – for example a run, walk or cycle either alone or with members of your household
- Any medical need, to provide care or to help a vulnerable person
- Travelling to and from work, but only where this is absolutely necessary and cannot be done from home.
Ian Levy said, “The scientific evidence shows that minimising contact between households and keeping a 2 metre distance has a huge impact on reducing the spread of coronavirus. As Boris Johnson made clear, following this advice will ease the pressure on the NHS and will save lives.
The government has made a commitment to do whatever it takes to get the country through this crisis. I will be doing the same and please get in touch with any concerns.”
