We have delivered Brexit. There were those who said we couldn’t and those who said they wouldn’t, but Blyth Valley voted to deliver Brexit in 2019, just as they did in 2016.
Now we have done it and we can get on with this country’s real priorities.
NHS funding is going to increase as we’ve introduced a law to say that the health service budget must increase by at least £33.9 billion every year by 2024. I have already met with the Northumbria Healthcare Trust to discuss how we can benefit from this here.
More money will go into education. Funding per pupil will rise to £4000 per primary school pupil and £5000 for secondary school students by the start of the next academic year. We’re also making going into teaching more rewarding by raising the starting salary of teachers to £30,000.
Recruitment has started for the 20,000 extra police officers who will make our area safer. They will have more powers and more resources to do their jobs.
Areas like Blyth Valley have suffered over the last three years as opposition parties have done all they can to frustrate the Brexit process. Now we’re out of the European Union and Parliament’s attention has rightly turned to the things that will improve places like ours.
In Cramlington, Blyth and the Seaton Valley we have companies who are leading the world in various industries. I have already seen the immense contribution some of our biggest employers are making in the field of engineering. Various ministers have already visited my constituency to see what your government can do to ensure our success continues.
Boris has injected this country with a healthy dose of much-needed optimism. He has shifted the government’s attention to communities like ours. I will work to ensure that Blyth Valley benefits from this big Boris boost.
