Local MP Ian Levy joined one of Blyth’s busiest School Crossing Patrol Officers as she helped keep students of the Blyth Academy safe on their way to school.
Ian joined Ann Cape has been a Crossing Patrol Officer in Blyth for 21 years for a shift on Friday to hear about the challenges faced by students as they walked to school.
There have been a number of reporta of dangerous driving in the area which have put the safety of students and other pedestrians at risk.
Following the shift Ian said:
“It was great to meet Ann and see the great work she’s been doing for the past 21 years.
“Unfortunately some inconsiderate drivers in the area have made the job more difficult and have recently been putting young lives at risk.
“I’ll be working with the council and law enforcement agencies to make sure we put an end to dangerous driving in this area.”
